Traffic & Parking Info for Memorial Service
A walking funeral procession honoring slain Chattanooga Police Sgt. Tim Chapin will proceed from Abba’s House (Central Baptist Church on Hixson Pike) to Hamilton Memorial Gardens on Highway 153.
The procession will follow the funeral service, which begins at 1 p.m. Thursday.
Highway 153 will be closed to all traffic not in the procession from 11 a.m. until all services are complete. Please avoid the area if at all possible, police said.
Both the visitation and funeral service will be held at the church at 5208 Hixson Pike.
The burial will be at the Hamilton Memorial Gardens, located on Highway 153 near Hixson Pike. Abba’s House will be open to receive visitors starting at noon on Wednesday through 10 a.m. on Thursday.
The Chapin family will be there to receive friends on Wednesday from noon until 3 p.m. and from 5-8 p.m.
For the funeral at Abba's House on Thursday at 1 p.m., the parking lot of Abba’s House will be for family members, law enforcement and first responders parking only. All others attending the funeral service are asked to park in the rear parking lot of Northgate Mall. CARTA has provided two shuttle buses for transportation to and from the church. There will be no media allowed in the service.
